When clients inherit funds from a New Jersey resident, they must provide proof that state taxes have been satisfied via New Jersey L-8 Affidavit for Non-Real Estate investments (tax waiver). Without this form, the inherited account is restricted; only allowing a portion of funds to be disbursed until the tax waiver is received. Historically, clients have provided copies of the waiver to satisfy the requirement.
Beginning May 4, 2026, Fidelity must be provided with the original document by mail.

Fidelity has informed us of an important change to how the U.S. Postal Service postmarks mail. With the tax deadline quickly approaching, we wanted to pass this update along so it can be accounted for when to submit them.
Recently, FINRA adopted amendments to FINRA Rule 3220 (Influencing or Rewarding Employees of Others) to increase the gift limit from $100 to $300 per person per year. Effective 03/30/2026, Vicus Capital has increased the maximum value for gifts to $300.
